In recent times, these muscular twin cars have been redesigned to be more powerful than ever, providing mind-blowing wild loads of powertrain and top of the class tech options. Also, the luxurious interior and comfy interior is still a class of its own. However, the close similarity between these closely related muscle cars, the Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Charger, has not helped but create confusion to a good number of Dodge muscle car admirers. This article aims to clarify and lucidly create a distinction between these two muscle car models. Join the groove!

History Of The Dodge

The American automobile brand, Dodge, is manufactured by FCA US LLC, which is formally known as Fiat Chrysler Group LLC. The FCA US LLC is headquartered at the Auburn Hills, Michigan. During most of its life cycle, the Dodge was Chrysler’s mid-priced brand above Plymouth.

Dodge was established in the 1900s by the Dodge brothers, Horace and John Dodge. The company was soon to be known as the Dodge Brothers Company, with the major business focus of supplying parts and assemblies to the burgeoning Detroit automobile industry. Right from the onset, the company witnessed massive success, picking up regular work producing engines and chassis for the Olds Motor Vehicle Company and the Ford Motor Company.

However, the inflating demands and stress of the booming automobile industry soon inspired the brothers to toy with the idea of starting a manufacturing plant of their own. The Dodge Model 30 was the Dodge Brothers Company’s first car. The Dodge Model 30 gave birth to several key concepts that were to become standards in the years to come, such as an all-steel body, 12-volt electrical system, and sliding gear transmission. From then onwards, it was success after success for these two brothers. In 1916, the Dodge cars rose to the second largest selling in the US, behind only the Ford Model T.

The demise of the Dodge brothers in 1920, led to the first sale of the company to Dillon, Reed & Co. this transaction was to be the largest of its era. Later on, Chrysler acquired the company. Over the years, the brand has witnessed multiple changes in ownership, such as a short-lived merger with Daimler-Benz AG from 1998 to 2007, sale to the Cerberus Capital Management, bailout by the United States government, and acquisition by Fiat.

After its 1953 introduction of the first V8 engine, the 1960s and ’70s saw the company dominating the muscle car market, and is fondly remembered today as the creator of some of the most beloved muscle cars from that era.

The present-day Dodge is best known for its aggressively styled cars like the Dodge Challenger and Charger, and its powerful, sturdy trucks, the Dodge Ram and the Dodge Dakota. Against all the odds, Dodge has continued to stay strong in the North American market.

The Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger stands for three different generations of one of the world’s most foremost muscle car produced by the Dodge. The first Challenger was introduced in 1959. The convertible body styled the first generation lasted till the 1970s.

The second-generation model Challenger was more of a compact, economical car, with existence from the 1970s to the 1980s.

The recent generation of the Challenger was launched in 2008. The fast, sleek, and sexy Challenger model is legendary in the muscle car circle, making opting for a Dodge Challenger Lease deal an adventure that truly pays off.

The Dodge Challenger Model Trims

In each model year of the Challenger, different trims are made available for the Challenger muscle car lovers. These diverse model grades all offer unique engine and design styling. Aside from the powertrains, different names have come to be associated with these different Challenger model trims, such as SRT, HEMI, and Scat Pack.

The SRT Hellcat offers arrays of ever-increasing horsepower engines, with the 2019 model year trim providing a horsepower up to 717 and torque to 656-pound feet.

The Hemi Scat pack trim is a member of the Hemi and Scat pack families. This grade offers a 6.4L Chrysler Hemi Engine rated at 485 horsepower and 475-pound feet torque.

SRT Hellcat Redeye was borne out of the discontinuation of the Demon. It is a welcomed upgrade to the Hellcat, but it is slightly less powerful than the Demon engine. This may be attributed to its smaller hood intake system.

The Dodge Charger

The FCA US LLC (a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) manufactured full-size four-door Dodge Charger sedan was first introduced in 2005, at the North American Auto Show. The Charger was designed as a worthy replacement of the Dodge full-size Dodge Intrepid and planed as a step up in the muscle car line up. The year 2011 saw the launch of the second generation of the Charger. The Charger comes available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrains. The Charger has come to be epitomized as the American muscle, thus, equating that a Dodge Charger Lease is one of the most viable lease options in the muscle car world.

Dodge Charger Model Trims

Each model year of the Dodge Charger comes with marvelous trim levels. Notable model grades of the Charger include RT Hellcat, RT Scat Pack, and SXT.

The Hellcat is acknowledged as the fastest factory four-door sedan ever built. It is very quick, fast, and offers the most powerful vehicle engine in its segment in the world. The Hellcat 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine produces a 707 horsepower and 650-pound feet of torque. It so stylishly designed, making it an absolute joy to ride.

The RT Scat Pack comes second with strong performance stats in the lineup.

The SXT is the most affordable option, which features a Pentastar V6 as the GT and SRT AWD and 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine design gives the SXT an outstanding performance.

Review From Ashley Smith: This was my first experience using a leasing company. In the past, I leased my cars directly through the dealership and always felt that I didn’t receive a fair price. I had such a pleasant experience with VIP Auto Lease from the first time I called to when my car was delivered. Michael Jeffries was a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive and able to get me a great deal. He made the leasing process smooth and easy. I was so impressed there were no hidden fees and that the car was delivered right to my house! I will definitely use VIP Auto Lease again in the future! Thank you again!
