The handsome Volvo XC90 perfectly blends style, performance, and luxury. Though adults might not grin cheerfully in the third row, a 2023 XC90 lease deal still guarantees an incomparable mid-size luxury experience for the whole family.
2023 is a busy year for Volvo’s largest SUV as the Scandinavian automaker has discontinued the vehicle’s gas-only powertrains in preparation for a seamless all-electric transition. Every 2023 XC90 will draw strength from hybrid setups. Volvo has also renamed the XC90’s trims and introduced a palette of new paint colors.
A fully-electric version of Volvo’s largest SUV is around the corner, but until then, shoppers can feast on a trio of hybrid arrangements labeled B5, B6, and T8. The entry-level B5 powertrain features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine assisted by a 48-volt mild hybrid system. It makes a total of 247 horses and 258 lb-ft. The B6 adds a supercharger to the standard setup to develop a combined 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft. Upgrading to the T8 unlocks an efficient plug-in hybrid that cranks out 455 ponies and 523 lb-ft of torque. All three engines hook up with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. With the top-of-the-range T8 powertrain, the XC90 can crack the 0-60mph sprint in an impressive 4.5 seconds. The XC90 boasts a balanced and refined ride; it handles uneven roads and bumps effectively, especially when equipped with optional air suspensions. At its best configuration, the XC90 can tow up to 5000 pounds.
The B5 powertrain gets an EPA rating of 22 mpg city and 28 highway, while the B6 powertrain will earn 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The plug-in hybrid T8 powertrain gets the best EPA rating at 66 MPGe. According to EPA, XC90 models with the T8 can go 36 miles in electric-only mode.
Typical of Volvo’s vehicles, the XC90’s interior is a work of art crafted from expensive, high-quality materials and garnished with industry-leading tech features. The SUV’s first two rows are spacious, but adults would prefer to avoid sitting in the third row. Standard features include an intuitive 9.0-inch touchscreen display fitted between two air vents, four-zone climate system, a 12-inch instrument panel, quality leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, etc. A head-up display, Nappa leather upholstery, Harman Kardon sound system, etc., are all optional.
Driver’s convenience and passenger safety have always been Volvo’s top priorities. Here’s a list of key safety and driver assistance technologies in the latest XC90.
