It’s no news that the iconic Hummer is back, but coming back as an EV? Who could have thought about that!
Yes, the Hummer is back, but unlike the typical gas-guzzling Hummers we have had, the all-new Hummer is back with a complete electric makeover. The resurrected Hummer will make its way to the 2022 GMC lineup, first as a fully electric pickup truck and later as an electric SUV.
The new 2022 Hummer EV boasts removable roofs, a four-wheel steering feature, and an adjustable air suspension. If you want to lease a super truck that combines massive power, insane acceleration, class-leading off-road ability, leasing the 2022 GMC Hummer EV will give you that.
Besides swapping its internal combustion engine for a battery-electric option, the all-new 2022 Hummer EV still sports its unapologetic on-road presence and profound off-road ability. With its 1000 horses and an estimated driving range of 329 miles per charge, this fully electric truck is nothing but a beast.
Powering the all-new Hummer EV are three electric motors that combine to generate 1000 horsepower and an acclaimed 11,500 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard in this new super electric truck.
According to GMC, the Hummer EV with its powertrain configuration can take on 0 to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds, thanks to its Watts to Freedom driving mode. In addition to its insane horsepower, the resurrected Hummer truck delivers outstanding on-road performance. Its plush ride quality will greatly impress anybody that steps inside the cabin.
GMC also aims to make its new electric Hummer truck exceedingly capable when taken to the off-beaten path. The all-new Hummer EV packs much equipment to improve the on-and-off-road capacity of the Hummer EV, including an Extreme Off-Road package that features 18-inch wheels with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler All Territory MT rubber. There’s also an optional adaptive air suspension system and four-wheel steering.
According to the EPA, the 2022 Hummer EV earns a fuel economy number of 51 MPGe city, 43 MPGe highway, and 47 MPGe combined.
With its 212.7 kWh Ultium battery-pack, the new Hummer EV will go up to 329 miles of driving range per charge.
Charging this electric super truck can be done at home through the provided adapter or at the regular public stations or DC fast-charging stations. It can add an extra 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes with its 800-volt electrical architecture.
While details about this GMC’s towing and payload capacity are not out yet, we expect the new Hummer EV to tow between 7500 and 11,000 pounds and afford a payload of 1500 to 3500 pounds.
On the inside, it is pretty much clear that GMC borrowed the interior design language and elements of the Sierra crew cab truck and pushed it to a new Hummer EV pickup truck. However, the Hummer EV affords a tad more elegant styled cabin and more tech features, including a large 13.4-inch infotainment screen with many connectivity features and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
The Hummer EV is quite spacious and comes as a crew cab pickup truck with a five-foot-long bed.
