2023 GMC Yukon Vs. 2023 Jeep Wagoneer: The Battle Of The Large SUVs

Known for their tremendous ability to haul people and their things, insane off-road skills, and outstanding towing capacity, full-size SUVs are best described as heavy beasts.

For the new Model year, a new ultra-luxurious Denali Ultimate trim joins Yukon’s lineup, while the Wagoneer gets an extended wheelbase version that pairs exclusively with a twin-turbo straight-six engine.

Engine And Transmission

The latest Yukon is available with one of three capable engines. The base engine is a 5.3-liter naturally-aspirated V8 that puts out 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. A 420-hp 6.2-liter V8 making is optional just as a torque-rich 3.0-liter straight-six turbo-diesel engine with up to 460 lb-ft of torque. All engines hook up with a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or all-wheel drive. Motivating the base Jeep Wagoneer is a  5.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8 that churns out 392 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. The rest of the SUV’s lineup employs a punchier 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine making 420 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque. Asides from having the most powerful engine option, Jeep’s Wagoneer also has a higher max towing capacity of 10,000 lbs, while the Yukon is rated at 8,400 lbs.
