Minivan lease cash in particular swings hard depending on how much stock is sitting, so a van that leases well in one period can be sixty dollars worse in the next with nothing about the vehicle having changed.

What is actually on the ground. A configuration sitting in volume at a partner dealership leases better than one that has to be located and dealer-traded.

Your credit tier. The advertised payment is always the lender’s top credit tier. Every tier below it adds to the money factor, and over thirty-six months that difference is worth more than most people expect.

Which is why the honest answer to “what is the Chrysler deal this month” is a phone call rather than a page.

Voyager or Pacifica? Check Which One You Are Being Quoted

This is the single most useful thing on this page, and it catches people every year.

Chrysler sells two minivans that look almost identical in a photograph. A cheap Chrysler minivan payment is very often a Voyager, not a Pacifica — and the two are not the same vehicle.

The Voyager comes in a single LX trim, front-wheel drive only, with no hybrid option. The Pacifica runs Select, Limited and Pinnacle, offers all-wheel drive, and is the only one of the two available as a plug-in hybrid — current Chrysler Pacifica lease pricing is here.

Both get Stow ‘n Go — second-row seats that fold flat into the floor rather than having to be lifted out and stored somewhere — so that is not the difference.

The difference that matters is the driver assistance. The Voyager does without adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist. On a van that spends its life on the Van Wyck, the Grand Central or the run out to JFK, that is not a luxury omission — it is the equipment you notice most in traffic. It also does without the 360-degree camera, the FamCAM interior camera and the rear-seat screens.

None of which makes the Voyager a bad lease. It is a great deal of van for the money and for plenty of households it is exactly right. But you should know which one you are signing for. Ask for the model and trim in writing before you agree a payment — and if a quote looks noticeably cheaper than everything else you have been shown, that is usually the reason.

What the Best Chrysler Lease Deals in Queens Cost Once Tax Is In

New York does not tax a lease month by month. Under Tax Law §1111(i), the tax is assessed once, at signing, on the total of every payment across the term. Queens registers at the New York City rate of 8.875%, and that rate follows where the van is registered, not where the dealership sits.

On a $450 monthly payment over thirty-six months, that is $16,200 in payments and roughly $1,438 in sales tax, due at signing. At $600 a month it is about $1,917, and at $750 about $2,396.

It is normally capitalised into the monthly payment, which is why most people never see it as a line of its own. Ask for the figure before you sign. A quote that does not show it is not a complete quote.

$0 Down Chrysler Leases in Queens

A down payment does not make a lease cheaper. It moves money from later to now.

Put $4,000 down on a thirty-six month Chrysler lease and the payment falls by roughly $111 a month. Across the term you have paid the same, less a small amount of interest on the reduced balance. What you have also done is hand the bank $4,000 that is gone if the van is written off in month four, because the insurance settlement is paid to the lienholder. GAP covers the shortfall owed to the finance company. It does not refund your capitalised cost reduction.

That is the case for zero down leasing, and it is why we default to it.

What zero down does not remove. The sales tax above is still due at signing, along with the first month’s payment, the bank acquisition fee and New York DMV registration. Those can be rolled in, but they cannot be made to disappear.

Minivans, Airports and For-Hire Work in Queens

Two Queens-specific things worth saying about a minivan.

The airport run. A van going regularly to JFK or LaGuardia with luggage and passengers is doing more miles than the household estimate anyone gives at signing, and doing them on the worst surfaces in the city. Set the mileage allowance against what the van will actually do rather than against the default, because buying miles at signing costs a few dollars a month and buying them at turn-in does not. The rate is stated in your contract.

For-hire work. A personal lease is written and priced for personal use, and so is your insurance — driving it for hire puts you outside both at once. A for-hire vehicle in New York City needs a TLC vehicle licence, TLC plates and commercial insurance through a TLC-approved broker.

If the van is going on a company rather than on you personally, ask about corporate and fleet leasing — it is written differently from a personal contract. There is one thing worth knowing here, though, and it is specific to minivans. The TLC is currently issuing new for-hire vehicle licences only to wheelchair-accessible vehicles — and a converted minivan is the usual form a wheelchair-accessible vehicle takes. Confirm the registration address. The address the van registers to sets the sales tax rate and carries the tickets — not where you take delivery, and not where the dealership sits.

Photograph the van on the day it arrives, sliding door tracks included. On a family vehicle those and the rear bumper are where damage turns up first, and a dated photograph of how it looked on delivery is the only defence against paying three years later for marks that were already there.
