Besides bearing the same name as the regular Equinox and dropping the gasoline powertrain for a pair of electric motors, the all-new Equinox EV is very different from the regular Equinox. On the outside, the Equinox EV blends the traditional Chevy SUV styling with more futuristic detailing. While not much information is available yet, we expect this electric SUV to come with an all-wheel-drive and more driving range than its sib, the Chevy Bolt EV.
Chevrolet says the Equinox EV will be available in two flavors, LT and RS models. This small electric SUV is built on the GM’s Ultium battery platform and affords a sleek exterior and futuristic interior. It will likely be available anytime next year as a 2024 model. And even though it affords exquisite styling and a tech-packed interior, it will be one of the most affordable EVs out there.
Engine & Performance
So far, Chevrolet has not given out many details about this all-new electric SUV, including what is under the hood. The Ultium family offers a vast range of battery packs from 50 kWh to about 200 kWh, with one or a dual-motor system that generates from 235 to 1000 horses and comes standard with either front or all-wheel-drive system. We can expect this new Chevy’s small luxury electric vehicle to come with something within that range.
What More To Expect?
While it will be on the GM’s Ultium platform, it will also sport more tech niceties and new design language like every other car built on GM’s EV platform. Though Chevy has confirmed that the all-new Equinox EV will be available in LT and RS trim levels, there’s every indication that Chevrolet will increase the lineup and offer an LS model or even a Premier trim before the Equinox EV hits dealerships’ showrooms.
Range & Charging
Although Chevy hasn’t released details about the all-new Equinox EV charging or driving range, we expect to get up to 300 miles of driving range per charge, which is mostly standard in cars built with the GM’s Ultium platform.
Interior
From the interior photos available on the all-new Equinox EV, while the interior doesn’t seem to stray away from what you can get from the best Chevy interiors, it gets a significant boost to make it one of the best Chevy’s interiors. The interior of the all-new Equinox EV, which effortlessly blends a mix of traditional styling and futuristic detailing, sports two giant screens at the dash.
The new Equinox EV’s passenger and cargo space looks so much like what you can get from the regular Equinox.
The regular Chevy Equinox affords everything any shopper could ever wish or want in a compact SUV. The all-new Chevy Equinox EV will undoubtedly be a well-rounded compact electric SUV. We will keep you up to date as more details are made available.
