Alfa Romeo EVs Future Looks Green

Big news from Stellantis, as the big auto conglomerate has thrilled Alfa Romeo fans with the possibility of leasing a fully electric Alfa Romeo car in the nearest future.

Following its plan to go fully electric by 2027, the Italian brand is set to introduce its first-ever EV in 2024. Speaking in an interview with Auto Express, the company’s CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, has revealed its plan towards embracing full electrification of its cars.

“The first full EV will come in 2024, and we’ll see a big launch in 2025, 2026, and we’ll see Alfa Romeo as a full BEV in 2027. This is validated and funded.”

With this, it is clear that the Alfa Romeo would be the first Stellantis brand to go fully electric. Imparato also revealed that Alfa’s first EV car would be built on the Stellantis’ STLA Large platform.

The First Alfa Romeo EV

Despite the insatiable taste for SUVs and with most other brands swinging into the trendy EV market with SUVs, Alfa Romeo is set to differ. Its first SUV will be modeled after the Guilia sport sedan. While the speculation is quite high as to what form the Alfa Romeo’s first EV will take, there’s no doubt that the new electric Alfa car, set to arrive in 2024, will gain a Quadrifoglio variant.

Not long ago, Stellantis announced its new modular EV platforms. Alfa Romeo will access these four platforms: STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large, and STLA Frame. Stellantis has also confirmed that these platforms would offer its cars a driving range of 300 miles to 500 miles and allow them to go from zero to 60 in as little as two seconds.

With so much going on for Alfa Romeo, we might as well see this Italian brand introduce one model per year, starting from 2024 till 2026. According to Imparato, every Alfa Romeo can deliver a Quadrifoglio variant, as long as the performance meets with what the Quadrifoglio badge stands for.

Before The Big Move

A few months back, Stellantis’ CEO, Carlos Tavares, outlined the electrification strategy of the Stellantis. With the all-new Tonale, a hybrid crossover from Alfa set to debut sometime next year; it’s all clear that Alfa Romeo has the intention to switch to EVs, just like other brands under Stellantis.

The all-new Tonale, the first Alfa model with a plug-in drivetrain, will also be the last Alfa product with an internal combustion engine. This comes as no surprise as Alfa Romeo has made its intention of joining other international Stellantis brands—including Fiat, Opel, DS, and Lancia—to switch to battery-electric power before the end of the decade. In fact, by 2027, Alfa Romeo plans to go fully electric by then.
