2020 Nissan Altima Review: It’s Here & Better Than Ever

Come for the bargain, stay for the value. The 2020 Nissan Altima will attract many buyers with its affordability. Over time you’ll appreciate your choice more as the 2020 Altima’s a good mid-size sedan with impressive value. Every Altima has good looks so what about the rest?

Engine Deals

Under the hood, you will find a mostly familiar inline-4 that makes 188 horsepower and it returns better-than-average fuel economy at 32 mpg. Most Altima’s will be powered by a 2.5-liter inline-4 that makes 188 hp and drives the front wheels. All-wheel drive is available. The base engine is paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission that grows a pair of paddle shifters in the Altima SR. At 28 miles per gallon in the city in the and 39 mpg on the highway, this is a fuel-efficient car.  For most drivers, the 2.5-liter inline-4 has enough power at the initial acceleration. It’s great for sitting in stop-and-go traffic. It is balanced enough to build up the pace when needed.

The Room Inside

The Altima has good room for up to five adults and plenty of room for cargo which is good for a mid-size sedan. Even in the base versions, you get comfortable seats and plenty of space to stretch your legs. The back seats are similarly comfortable. What is great about the available legroom, is that there is still enough for 6-footers to sit behind other 6-footers.

Safe and Sound?

Nissan gives those cars a host of driver-assistance features called “ProPilot Assist,” which can help steer the car, accelerate, and brake. It’s not a handsfree system. It  works best on divided highways or interstates with clear lane markings in good light. It’s not an attention-free system, it beeps   when a car appears directly ahead, when it changes lanes, when it stops seeing the road clearly, when it starts seeing the road clearly. It certainly keeps you focused on the drive ahead.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is now standard on the Altima SR trim. This suite includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and automatic high beams. It’s standard on every trim except the base S, where it’s available as an option.

Connect and Entertain

All Altimas receive the same infotainment system. NissanConnect runs on an 8-inch touchscreen on the center of the dashboard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard for the Altima, as are two USB ports  . The bottom trims make do with a 6-speaker audio system, while SL and Platinum variants get upgraded to a 9-speaker Bose sound system. Those same trims also receive embedded navigation tools.

Special Feature

Nissan’s Rear Door Alert is also standard across all trims. The car will alert the driver at the end of said trip to check the back seat. This should help prevent busy people forgetting people, animals or other items in the car. No one likes to find leftovers in the back of their car.

If you  want the best Nissan car lease deal I suggest you try the Altima 2020.   This sedan gives you the sort of capability you usually get from a higher spec model. Enjoy the Altima’s excellent engine, and  All-Wheel Drive system that monitors road conditions.
