What’s new for 2027
This is the second-generation Telluride, and it is a full redesign. The body is 2.3 inches longer and the wheelbase 2.7 inches longer than before, which adds room inside. The old V6 is gone: every gas model now uses a 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder with close to 50 lb-ft more torque than the outgoing engine.
For the first time there is also a Telluride Hybrid, rated at 329 horsepower. Even the base model gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Gas or hybrid?
The gas Telluride is rated at about 20 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The hybrid is rated at about 31 mpg combined with all-wheel drive, and higher with front-wheel drive. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving in the city, the hybrid saves the most at the pump.
The trade-off is towing: the gas models tow up to 5,000 pounds, the hybrid up to 4,500. At VIP, the 2027 Telluride EX Hybrid is $645 per month with Zero Down.
Seven seats or eight?
This is the question we hear most. The S comes with second-row captain’s chairs, so it seats seven with a walkway to the third row. The EX has a second-row bench and seats eight. If you need every seat for a carpool or grandparents, price the EX. If the third row is mostly for kids, the captain’s chairs make it easier to get in and out.
Which trim to lease
- S AWD, $554 per month: heated front seats, a power sunroof, a smart power liftgate, 20-inch wheels and captain’s chairs. The value pick for most families.
- EX, $619 per month: adds ventilated front seats, SynTex seating, power-folding mirrors and the eight-seat bench.
- X-Line EX, $635 per month: all-wheel drive with Terrain Mode, 21-inch wheels, raised roof rails, blacked-out trim and self-leveling rear suspension.
- EX Hybrid, $645 per month: the hybrid’s extra power and much better fuel economy.
- X-Line SX AWD, $699 per month: the top of the X-Line range.
Living with a Telluride in New York City
The new Telluride is 199.2 inches long, about 16 and a half feet, so measure your garage space or parking spot before you sign. Standard ground clearance is 7.4 inches, which handles plowed-in curbs, and all-wheel drive is available on most trims and standard on the X-Line. With the third row folded there is 48.7 cubic feet of space, enough for strollers, groceries or an airport run with suitcases.
Telluride or another three-row SUV?

What it costs in New York City
VIP’s payments are before tax. In New York City, the 8.875 percent sales tax brings $554 a month to about $603. New York charges the tax on the whole lease up front, and on a Zero Down lease it is usually rolled into the payment.
