The 2027 Jeep Compass Limited Altitude is the lowest monthly payment in VIP’s Jeep lineup right now: the 2027 Jeep Compass Limited Altitude lease is $315 per month with Zero Down, delivered to your door, and four-wheel drive is standard.

This review covers what the Limited Altitude includes, how big it really is, what it costs to run, and where it fits in the Compass lineup.

What’s new for 2027

The 2027 Compass carries over from 2026, and Jeep has announced no major changes. It keeps the same 200-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo, the 8-speed automatic, standard four-wheel drive and the same five trims: Latitude, Latitude Altitude, Limited, Limited Altitude and Trailhawk.

An all-new Compass, to be built in Belvidere, Illinois, is planned for the 2028 model year, so the 2027 is the current Compass.

What the Limited Altitude gives you

The Limited is the premium step in the Compass lineup, and the Altitude version adds a black appearance package. On a 2027 Limited Altitude, that means:

  • 19-inch aluminum wheels with a dark painted finish
  • Heated front seats and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • A power driver’s seat with power lumbar support
  • A 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen
  • Leatherette upholstery and a six-speaker sound system

Standard four-wheel drive, and why it matters here

Every Limited Altitude comes with Jeep Active Drive full-time four-wheel drive and Selec-Terrain, which lets you choose Auto, Snow or Sand/Mud modes. Its 8.1 inches of ground clearance helps with plowed-in curbs, slushy side streets and winter drives upstate.

Engine, fuel and towing

The 2.0-liter turbo makes 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque and drives through an 8-speed automatic. The EPA rates it at 23 mpg city, 31 highway and 26 combined.

At about $4.34 a gallon, New York City’s average for regular gas in early October according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, 10,000 miles a year works out to roughly $139 a month in fuel, and 12,000 miles to about $167.

The Compass can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

Size, space and parking

The Compass is 173.4 inches long, about 14 and a half feet, and 73.8 inches wide without the mirrors. That is a manageable size for street parking and city garage spaces.

Behind the rear seat there is 27.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and 59.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. It seats five.

Safety and driver assistance

The Limited Altitude comes with:

  • Full-speed forward collision warning with active braking
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop and go
  • Active lane management
  • Blind spot monitoring with rear cross path detection
  • ParkSense rear park assist and the ParkView rear camera
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

The warranty and your lease

The basic warranty runs three years or 36,000 miles, and the powertrain warranty five years or 60,000 miles. On a 36-month lease at 10,000 miles a year, you finish at about 30,000 miles, well inside the basic warranty. At 12,000 miles a year you reach 36,000 right around turn-in.

What it costs in New York City

VIP’s payments are before tax. In New York City, the 8.875 percent sales tax brings $315 a month to about $343. New York charges the tax on the whole lease up front, and on a Zero Down lease it is usually rolled into the payment.

Zero Down means no down payment. The first month, the bank fee and the DMV registration and title fees are still paid at signing; our zero down lease deals page lists exactly what is collected.

Compass or a bigger Jeep?

If you need more room, the next step up in VIP’s Jeep lineup is the 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, a larger two-row midsize SUV, at $549 per month. For drivers who usually carry one or two passengers and want four-wheel drive in an easy-to-park size, the Compass does the job for less.

Where the Limited Altitude fits in the Compass lineup

  • Latitude: the starting point of the Compass range.
  • Latitude Altitude: the Latitude with the black appearance package.
  • Limited: the premium step.
  • Limited Altitude: the Limited with the black appearance package.
  • Trailhawk: the Trail Rated off-road version.
