Ford isn’t the only automaker investing heavily in EVs. The GM is also all out to launch 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. Out of the 30 new EVS set to be available worldwide by 2025, two-third of it will be for the North American auto market. GM’s different brands, including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC, are expected to be part of this GM’s heavy plan.
To back up its ambition, General Motors announced that it would increase its investment in EVs to $35 billion through 2025. This new figure marks a 75 percent increase from its initial investment about a year ago. No doubt, GM looks so unstoppable on its way to an all-electric future. General Motors believes that millions of EVs must be put out on the roads to achieve zero emissions soon. Every GM car, including the GMC EVs, will come with the right style, battery tech, software, and a competitive price from the design to engineering and the final product.
Some of GM’s brands like the Chevrolet and Cadillac already offer some exciting EV cars to the market. GMC is set to join its siblings, offering an EV SUV and EV truck with the Hummer EV and Hummer EUV.
GM Ultium Battery
As part of its plan to increase the production of EVs across its brands, GM is also pushing on plans to build two new battery cell plants in the US by 2025. These two new factories will complement the Tennessee battery facility. The Ultium battery cells, which will form the basis of electrification of all GM cars, cost lesser than most batteries used today. GM believes that with its versatile platform, it will be able to mass-produce EVs.
GMC Hummer EV
After being out of production for nearly ten years, it was quite a pleasant surprise when GMC revealed that its first-ever EV would be a pickup truck derived from the iconic gas-guzzling Hummer. The all-new 2022 Hummer EV pickup truck uses three electric motors and delivers an estimated driving range of up to 350 miles per charge and 1000 horsepower. This exquisite EV truck also sports removable roof panels and an optional adjustable air suspension.
GMC Hummer EV SUV
Following closely behind the Hummer EV pickup truck is the legendary Hummer SUV, this time with an EV element. The Hummer EV SUV, which would be available from 2023 as a 2024 model, promises to reward all GMC loyalists who have been patiently waiting for the right time to lease a GMC EV. When it arrives, this all-new EV SUV is expected to come with bigger battery packs and afford over 300 miles of driving range.
GMC Hummer Sierra EV
Besides the Hummer EV pickup truck, GMC is set to launch another EV pickup truck. This mysterious EV truck, which could go by the Sierra EV moniker, is built based on the GM’s EV platform and will be a cheaper alternative to the GMC Hummer EV truck.
