It’s no news that General Motors is all out to bring 30 new all-electric models to the global market by 2025, 20 before the end of 2023, and a whopping two-thirds of these EVs solely for the North American auto market. So, if leasing a Cadillac EV is at the top of your list, there’s are quite a few options for you.
Already, we have heard a lot about General Motors’ electric plans, from the Chevy Bolt EUV to the GMC Hummer EV, Buick EVs, and now, the Cadillac Lyriq and the futuristic Celestiq. So if you’re still wondering about what Cadillac has in store for EVs, any of these two models is enough to satisfy you.
The Big News
Cadillac is all set to make its move into the trendy EV market, and this time, it is coming with a luxury electric vehicle, which is set to be available for leasing in 2022 as a 2023 model, with the nameplate, Lyriq. The all-new Cadillac Lyriq will be designed based on the GM’s Modular EV platform and Ultium scalable battery architecture. GM claims that this luxury EV will be available in both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions. It further revealed that the 2023 Lyriq would have more than 300 miles per charge driving range.
While the single-motor rear-wheel drive will be the standard form, this model is said to churn out 340 horsepower. On the all-wheel-drive option, Cadillac has been mum, refusing to divulge any details about that. Nevertheless, we appreciate this luxury EV’s sharp styling and sophisticated cabin. When the Lyriq finally becomes available for leasing, it will go head to head with some luxury offerings like the Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X.
Cadillac Celestiq
While it largely remains a show car, we hope that the Cadillac Celestiq didn’t end up as a show car. This show-stealer, revealed at the 2021 CES trade show, indeed, caught a lot of attention. The Cadillac Celestiq, believed to be ready in a few years, has all it takes to be a true flagship luxury sedan. Like every other upcoming General Motors EV, the Celestiq will be built on the GM’s modular EV platform and Ultium battery technology. It boasts all-wheel-drive, four-wheel steering and will likely have a driving range above 300 miles per charge. The EV sedan sister to the Lyriq EV SUV will also have a sophisticated and spacious cabin with state-of-the-art niceties. The Celestiq promises to offer more innovative technology than anyone has witnessed in a GM car before. While we may have to wait for a few more years to drive this tech wonder, this EV, no doubt, will be worth the wait.
